Apostolic Messianic Movement - History

History

The group was founded in 1995 in Tampa, Florida by Oneness historian Dr. Gary Reckart, Sr., being formed from the various Oneness Pentecostal organizations. In its present form, the movement is considered a merging of Oneness Pentecostalism and what the group considers the ancient Messianic beliefs of the followers of Jesus. It stresses the Jewishness of the New Testament Church into which Gentiles are grafted (Romans 11:17). The movement now has over 8,000 adherents worldwide.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

The principal office of history I take to be this: to prevent virtuous actions from being forgotten, and that evil words and deeds should fear an infamous reputation with posterity.
    Tacitus (c. 55–c. 120)

What would we not give for some great poem to read now, which would be in harmony with the scenery,—for if men read aright, methinks they would never read anything but poems. No history nor philosophy can supply their place.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

I am ashamed to see what a shallow village tale our so-called History is. How many times must we say Rome, and Paris, and Constantinople! What does Rome know of rat and lizard? What are Olympiads and Consulates to these neighboring systems of being? Nay, what food or experience or succor have they for the Esquimaux seal-hunter, or the Kanaka in his canoe, for the fisherman, the stevedore, the porter?
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
