History
Apollon Patras B.C. has competed in the top division Greek Basket League in a total of 28 different seasons so far, being one of the constant teams in the Greek League's top division over the years. The club competed in the top division for the first time in the 1971-72 season. Apollon won the local Achaea tournament 4 times, in the years 1956, 1958, 1971, and 1973.
In 1997, Apollon B.C. made it to the final of the Greek Cup, for the only time in the club's history, but they were defeated by Olympiacos. In that particular season, Olympiacos was considered to be one of the all-time greatest teams in European basketball, as they won the 1997 Triple Crown. In 2003, Apollon B.C. won the Greek Second Division championship, and subsequently returned to the first division for four straight seasons (2003-04 to 2006-07).

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“Yet poetry, though the last and finest result, is a natural fruit. As naturally as the oak bears an acorn, and the vine a gourd, man bears a poem, either spoken or done. It is the chief and most memorable success, for history is but a prose narrative of poetic deeds.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“The best history is but like the art of Rembrandt; it casts a vivid light on certain selected causes, on those which were best and greatest; it leaves all the rest in shadow and unseen.”
—Walter Bagehot (18261877)
