Anvil Publishing

Anvil Publishing, Inc. is a Philippines book publisher. It was founded in 1990, and publishes, and occasionally imports, books.

Its vision and mission is to popularize books and reading by publishing trade books different Filipino audiences would read, and making them available and accessible, highly attractive and engaging therefore competitive on store shelves. Books must not sell only because they’re required in schools. Genuine love for books and reading can only be cultivated through books read outside of the school.

Anvil has an established nationwide dealer network servicing 565 dealers in 60 key cities and municipalities. These dealers include National Book Store, Anvil’s mother company and the largest bookstore chain in the country today with 150 outlets, Goodwill Book Store, Rex Book Store, Solidaridad, Central Book Store, Popular Book Store, Gaisano chain, Fairmart, Landmark, CID Bookstore, among others. It also has a nationwide academic sales force servicing schools and libraries.

Anvil has pioneered in expanding local trade lines. It has introduced popular-format books which are reasonably-priced. This, after years of a local publishing tradition of scholarly/academic publications in limited print runs, which take years to sell.

To date, Anvil has put out almost 2,000 titles. 136 titles have won National Book Awards from 1990 to 2011.

Famous quotes containing the words anvil and/or publishing:

This Administration has declared unconditional war on poverty and I have come here this morning to ask all of you to enlist as volunteers. Members of all parties are welcome to our tent. Members of all races ought to be there. Members of all religions should come and help us now to strike the hammer of truth against the anvil of public opinion again and again until the ears of this Nation are open, until the hearts of this Nation are touched, and until the conscience of America is awakened.
    Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908–1973)

While you continue to grow fatter and richer publishing your nauseating confectionery, I shall become a mole, digging here, rooting there, stirring up the whole rotten mess where life is hard, raw and ugly.
    Norman Reilly Raine (1895–1971)
