The majority of Annanur residents are railway employees, government and public servants and the traditional Annanur inhabitants. Individual plot owners out number than flat owners. Flat system has recently started to sell its business.
Annai Velankanni Church Annanur Carshed Complex, Railway Quarters, Chennai-600 109. This Parish was bifurcated from Devi Nagar and erected in 2003 and entrusted to the Fathers of the Society of St Paul. Earlier, Annanur was a substation of Avadi. In the year 1980-81 a grotto was built and in the year 1993, Fr TS Kurian built part of the church. In 1995 Fr Patrick extended the Church.In 1998 Fr Xavier Emmanuel was the Priest in-charge.
