As Anna University is an affiliation type university, it has many affiliated institution under its control. The affiliated colleges are four types:
- Anna University's Colleges & Campus
- Tamil Nadu Government Engineering Colleges
- Tamil Nadu Government Aided Engineering Colleges
- Self-Financing Engineering Colleges
