Return To Council

Auckland Council
Years Ward Affiliation
2010–2013 North Shore Shore Voice

In the 2007 local body elections Hartley was elected to the North Shore City Council, and left Parliament when it resumed in 2008. She was replaced by the next person on Labour's party list, Louisa Wall. At the 2010 local government elections, the North Shore city council (along with all the other councils in the Auckland region) was replaced by a single Auckland council, she stood for the North Shore ward under the Shorevoice ticket and was successful. She started her new role when the council came into existence on 1 November 2010.

Famous quotes containing the words return to, return and/or council:

Return to her? and fifty men dismissed?
No, rather I abjure all roofs, and choose
To wage against the enmity o’ th’ air,
To be a comrade with the wolf and owl—
    Necessity’s sharp pinch.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

I borrowed today out of the Advocate’s Library, David Hume’s Treatise of Human Nature, but found it so abstruse, so contrary to sound sense and reason, and so drearying its effects on the mind, if it had any, that I resolved to return it without reading it.

    James Boswell (1740–1795)

I haven’t seen so much tippy-toeing around since the last time I went to the ballet. When members of the arts community were asked this week about one of their biggest benefactors, Philip Morris, and its requests that they lobby the New York City Council on the company’s behalf, the pas de deux of self- justification was so painstakingly choreographed that it constituted a performance all by itself.
    Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)
