Anky Van Grunsven - Controversy

Controversy

Van Grunsven, with assistance from her trainer and husband Janssen, is considered to be the originator of the controversial training method rollkur. She has moved to distance herself with the method since the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) declared in February 2010 this method "is seen as an aggressive way of a deep moving horse. This is forbidden as well as any head-neck position which is obtained in an aggressive way."

In a lawsuit announced on 24 August 2010, van Grunsven claims she has been defamed by journalist Astrid Appels on the website eurodressage.com. A release posted on that website announcing the lawsuit reports that "according to Anky images of her horses can not be connected to the controversial rollkur training method." The lawsuit was scheduled to begin 8 September 2010 in 's-Hertogenbosch but later Grunsven withdrew the case.

Famous quotes containing the word controversy:

Ours was a highly activist administration, with a lot of controversy involved ... but I’m not sure that it would be inconsistent with my own political nature to do it differently if I had it to do all over again.
Jimmy Carter (James Earl Carter, Jr.)

And therefore, as when there is a controversy in an account, the parties must by their own accord, set up for right Reason, the Reason of some Arbitrator, or Judge, to whose sentence, they will both stand, or their controversy must either come to blows, or be undecided, for want of a right Reason constituted by Nature; so is it also in all debates of what kind soever.
    Thomas Hobbes (1579–1688)
