Angra's first line-up was formed in 1991 with Andre Matos, Rafael Bittencourt, André Linhares, Luís Mariutti and Marco Antunes. By 1992 Linhares was replaced by Andre Hernades (which, by 2010, was playing guitar in Andre Matos' solo band). Soon Hernandes was also replaced, this time by Kiko Loureiro. They recorded their first demo album Reaching Horizons, which was followed by Marco Antunes leaving the band in 1992 just prior to the recording of their first album Angels Cry. Alex Holzwarth, Rhapsody of Fire, was chosen as a guest for the recording sessions and later Ricardo Confessori joined the band for the tour. This was the longest lived Angra line-up. In 2000 Matos, Mariutti and Confessori left the band, eventually grouping together to form the heavy metal band Shaaman. In 2001 Eduardo Falaschi, Felipe Andreoli and Aquiles Priester joined the band for the release of Rebirth. The band also recruited keyboard players on different occasions but they never received "member" status. In mid 2008, Priester left the band due to differences with other band members and in late 2008, Confessori confirmed his return to take over drums.

Famous quotes containing the word members:
“I have more in common with a Mexican man than with a white woman.... This opinion ... chagrins women who sincerely believe our female physiology unequivocally binds all women throughout the world, despite the compounded social prejudices that daily affect us all in different ways. Although women everywhere experience life differently from men everywhere, white women are members of a race that has proclaimed itself globally superior for hundreds of years.”
—Ana Castillo (b. 1953)
“This Administration has declared unconditional war on poverty and I have come here this morning to ask all of you to enlist as volunteers. Members of all parties are welcome to our tent. Members of all races ought to be there. Members of all religions should come and help us now to strike the hammer of truth against the anvil of public opinion again and again until the ears of this Nation are open, until the hearts of this Nation are touched, and until the conscience of America is awakened.”
—Lyndon Baines Johnson (19081973)
“I weep for the liberty of my country when I see at this early day of its successful experiment that corruption has been imputed to many members of the House of Representatives, and the rights of the people have been bartered for promises of office.”
—Andrew Jackson (17671845)
