Esperanto

• While English tend to assimilate /m/ to before /v/ or /f/, that is not allowed in Esperanto.
• Tend to pronounce Esperanto e as /e/ or /ei/ instead of /ɛ/
• Tend to reduce the vowels when unstressed.
• Tend to pronounce the ĥ as /k/ instead of /x/ or have a hard time pronouncing it. It is allowed though to replace ĥ with k both in pronunciation (so replacing /x/ with /k/) as in spelling.
• Tend to pronounce r as /ɹ/. It is not an approximant as in English, but the r must be rolled like in Spanish or Italian (/r/). Speakers of British English tend to mute the r when at end of a word or before consonant. The Esperanto r must always be pronounced, whereever in the word it is written.
• Other pronunciation dificulties are related to the pronunciation of letter combinations. The combination "sc" has the pronunciation /sts/ not /s/ or /sk/. The combination "kn" is pronounced as /kn/ where the k is not muted. The n in combination "ng" and "nk" is pronounced as /nɡ/ and /nk/, not as /ŋ(ɡ)/ or /ŋk/. The g in combination "ng" is always pronounced.
