Career

She starred in Shortland Street for nine years, transforming Rachel McKenna from the school girl daughter of clinic boss into a university student, a Shortland Street clinic employee and CEO of Shortland Street Hospital.

Bloomfield has also performed in a number of feature films including Bonjour Timothy and The Frighteners, also a short film, "A Brush With Death", for the 48HOURS 2008. Acting has taken a back seat for the last three years as she has become a mother of two but she has kept her hand in directing for Shortland Street on and off and she is looking forward to performing again. She attended Massey High School in West Auckland. She is married to Chris Houston and has two children, Max and Maya.

Bloomfield has also been a contestant on the N.Z show, Dancing with the Stars and was in 2006 voted as having New Zealand's best breasts. Angela returned to Shortland Street in October 2009 for a further stint as Rachel McKenna. She has since been promoted to the main cast for the 2010 season.

Famous quotes containing the word career:

Clearly, society has a tremendous stake in insisting on a woman’s natural fitness for the career of mother: the alternatives are all too expensive.
    Ann Oakley (b. 1944)

I restore myself when I’m alone. A career is born in public—talent in privacy.
    Marilyn Monroe (1926–1962)

I doubt that I would have taken so many leaps in my own writing or been as clear about my feminist and political commitments if I had not been anointed as early as I was. Some major form of recognition seems to have to mark a woman’s career for her to be able to go out on a limb without having her credentials questioned.
    Ruth Behar (b. 1956)
