Angel Eyes (Roxy Music Song)
Angel Eyes is a song by the British rock band Roxy Music. Released in August 1979, it was the third single to be taken from their album Manifesto and peaked at no.4 in the UK.
The single was a disco re-recorded version of the album track, which was more in a rock vein, and (just like the previous single "Dance Away") as a 12" extended dance mix (still a relatively new format at that time) was also released. The single version of "Angel Eyes" later replaced the album version for subsequent releases. The album version was first re-released on the "The Thrill of It All" boxset. The 1999 re-mastered version of the "Manifesto" album finally restored the original version of the song. The single re-recording of the song omits the last verse.
Coincidentally, the song was in the UK top 20 at the same time as another song called "Angeleyes" by the Swedish group ABBA.
"Angel Eyes" was the first record that Roxy Music made a specific music video for.

Famous quotes containing the words angel, eyes and/or music:
“Unwind, hands,
you angel webs,
unwind like the coil of a jumping jack,
cup together and let yourselves fill up with sun
and applaud, world,
applaud.”
—Anne Sexton (19281974)
“Dont they know that God gave them
their miraculous sickness
like a shield, like armor
and if their eyes are in the wrong
part of their heads, they shouldnt complain?
What are they doing seeing their doctors
when the worlds up for grabs.”
—Anne Sexton (19281974)
“The great challenge which faces us is to assure that, in our society of big-ness, we do not strangle the voice of creativity, that the rules of the game do not come to overshadow its purpose, that the grand orchestration of society leaves ample room for the man who marches to the music of another drummer.”
—Hubert H. Humphrey (19111978)
