Radio
Irwin served as host, storyteller, and self-proclaimed "audience trainer" of the Evening Star radio show, a one-hour program of music and storytelling on Georgia Public Broadcasting. Irwin began each radio broadcast by performing the show's theme song (which he composed), then he told a story and introduced the musical performer(s).
The Evening Star radio show was recorded live at the Evening Star Music Series at the Sautee Nacoochee Center, which is located in the foothills of Northeast Georgia near Helen . The monthly series of concerts featured the nation's top songwriters and contemporary folk musicians.

Famous quotes containing the word radio:
“... the ... radio station played a Chopin polonaise. On all the following days news bulletins were prefaced by Chopinpreludes, etudes, waltzes, mazurkas. The war became for me a victory, known in advance, Chopin over Hitler.”
—Margaret Anderson (18861973)
“The radio ... goes on early in the morning and is listened to at all hours of the day, until nine, ten and often eleven oclock in the evening. This is certainly a sign that the grown-ups have infinite patience, but it also means that the power of absorption of their brains is pretty limited, with exceptions, of courseI dont want to hurt anyones feelings. One or two news bulletins would be ample per day! But the old geese, wellIve said my piece!”
—Anne Frank (19291945)
“Now they can do the radio in so many languages that nobody any longer dreams of a single language, and there should not any longer be dreams of conquest because the globe is all one, anybody can hear everything and everybody can hear the same thing, so what is the use of conquering.”
—Gertrude Stein (18741946)
