Collegiate Coaching

On July 25, 2011, Murray was announced as the head coach of the Western Michigan Broncos. Murray replaced Jeff Blashill, who left WMU after one season to join the NHL's Detroit Red Wings. In his first season with WMU, the Broncos claimed the 2012 CCHA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament Championship with a 3–2 victory over Michigan in the championship game.
