Famous quotes containing the words evening, wild, man and/or fischer:

    Toiling,—rejoicing,—sorrowing,
    Onward through life he goes;
    Each morning sees some task begin,
    Each evening sees its close;
    Something attempted, something done,
    Has earned a night’s repose.
    Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1809–1882)

    He may travel who can subsist on the wild fruits and game of the most cultivated country.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

    If any man can shew any just cause, why they may not lawfully be joined together, let him now speak, or else hereafter for ever hold his peace.
    Book Of Common Prayer, The. Solemnization of Matrimony, “Exhortation,” (1662)

    In a decaying society, art, if it is truthful, must also reflect decay. And unless it wants to break faith with its social function, art must show the world as changeable. And help to change it.
    —Ernst Fischer (1899–1972)
