In Hadith
In the traditions of the prophet Muhammad (hadith), the river is called by the name Jayhan (Arabic form of its ancient name Gozan).
According to Ibn Hanbal's version of this hadith:
"Four rivers gush forth from Paradise: the Euphrates, the Nile, the Sayhan, and the Jayhan"
