Professional Development Institute
The purpose of the American Society of Military Comptrollers is to provide professional education and training for military financial managers. To help accomplish this goal, the society hosts an annual Professional Development Institute, normally lasting four days immediately after Memorial Day. The event provides a forum for recognized experts in various comptroller fields to share their knowledge with fellow practitioners. It also allows senior leaders from the Department of Defense and the military services an opportunity to speak to 3,000 to 4,000 military and (mostly) civilian financial managers about professional value, change in the fiscal environment, and national defense priorities.

Famous quotes containing the words professional, development and/or institute:
“The professional must learn to be moved and touched emotionally, yet at the same time stand back objectively: Ive seen a lot of damage done by tea and sympathy.”
—Anthony Storr (b. 1920)
“I hope I may claim in the present work to have made it probable that the laws of arithmetic are analytic judgments and consequently a priori. Arithmetic thus becomes simply a development of logic, and every proposition of arithmetic a law of logic, albeit a derivative one. To apply arithmetic in the physical sciences is to bring logic to bear on observed facts; calculation becomes deduction.”
—Gottlob Frege (18481925)
“Whenever any form of government shall become destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, & to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles & organising its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety & happiness.”
—Thomas Jefferson (17431826)
