ACTFL Activities

From the development of the ACTFL Proficiency GuidelinesĀ®, to its leadership role in the creation of national standards, ACTFL focuses on issues that are critical to the growth of both the profession and the individual teacher. ACTFL has undertaken numerous projects of national significance and has had considerable impact on the teaching and learning of foreign languages in the United States. These activities include developing National Standards for foreign language learning and teacher effectiveness, creating and delivering assessments to measure the performance and proficiency of languages, administering enrollment surveys to gather data on language learning across the country, and writing language proficiency guidelines.

In addition to this work, ACTFL partners with Language Testing International (LTI), a state-of-the-art language testing company that administers all ACTFL tests through a licensing agreement. LTI administers ACTFL language proficiency tests in 75 languages. These tests are used both domestically and internationally and by the corporate, government and academic sectors to determine the language proficiency of current language learners, teachers, military personnel, and prospective employees.

Famous quotes containing the word activities:

Love and work are viewed and experienced as totally separate activities motivated by separate needs. Yet, when we think about it, our common sense tells us that our most inspired, creative acts are deeply tied to our need to love and that, when we lack love, we find it difficult to work creatively; that work without love is dead, mechanical, sheer competence without vitality, that love without work grows boring, monotonous, lacks depth and passion.
