American Champion Decathlon - Famous People

Famous People

Steve Fossett was flying a Bellanca-built Super Decathlon when he went missing on September 3, 2007. He took off from an airstrip at William Barron Hilton's Flying-M Ranch, about 70 miles (110 km) southeast of Reno, Nevada. Remains of the plane were found 13 months later near the town of Mammoth Lakes, California, just south of the original search area.

James May of BBC Top Gear fame owns an 8KCAB Decathlon with the registration G-OCOK - a reference to his catch-phrase on the programme.

Talk radio host and pilot Neal Boortz owns a Super Decathlon. He has said on-air that "there's nothing like flying upside down to clear your mind ... among other things."

Famous quotes containing the words famous and/or people:

The essence of the physicality of the most famous blonde in the world is a wholesome eroticism blurred a little round the edges by the fact she is not quite sure what eroticism is. This gives her her tentative luminosity and what makes her, somehow, always more like her own image in the mirror than she is like herself.
    Angela Carter (1940–1992)

Only the little people pay taxes.
    Leona Helmsley (b. 1921)
