The American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) was originally put together in 1957 by a group of gynecologists in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania led by Dr. William Hartherford. Hartherford created the organization to support the pro-life cause and to raise public awareness about the subject.
After Hartherford's death, an obstetrician, Benjamin B. Travelli, overtook leadership of the organization. He resigned from the position in 1999 and was followed by the present leader Dennis P. Dunne.
AAPLOG is the one of the largest special interest groups recognized by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), claiming over "2,500 members and associates", approximately 5% of ACOG's total membership.
Famous quotes containing the words american and/or association:
“I have been spending my first night in an American summer hotel, and I despair of the Republic! Such dreariness, such whining callow women, such utter absence of the amenities, such crass food, crass manners, crass landscape!... What a horror it is for a whole nation to be developing without a sense of beauty, and eating bananas for breakfast.”
—Edith Wharton (18621937)
“They that have grown old in a single state are generally found to be morose, fretful and captious; tenacious of their own practices and maxims; soon offended by contradiction or negligence; and impatient of any association but with those that will watch their nod, and submit themselves to unlimited authority.”
—Samuel Johnson (17091784)
