Federal Political Career
Holowach first ran for a seat in the Canadian House of Commons as a candidate of the Social Credit party in the 1949 federal election. He was defeated by Liberal candidate Albert Frederick Macdonald. Holowach would run against Macdonald again in the 1953 federal election this time defeating him as Macdonald lost 3000 votes from his previous election. Holowach would stand for re-election in the 1957 federal election and would be barely re-elected by just 300 votes over Liberal candidate William Hawrelak. Parliament would be dissolved a year later and Hollowach would run for a third term in the 1958 federal election. He would be defeated by William Skoreyko and not return to federal politics.

Famous quotes containing the words federal, political and/or career:
“Newsmen believe that news is a tacitly acknowledged fourth branch of the federal system. This is why most news about government sounds as if it were federally mandatedserious, bulky and blandly worthwhile, like a high-fiber diet set in type.”
—P.J. (Patrick Jake)
“Common hypocrites pass themselves off as doves; political and literary hypocrites pose as eagles. But dont be fooled by their eagle-like appearance. These are not eagles, but rats or dogs.”
—Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (18601904)
“He was at a starting point which makes many a mans career a fine subject for betting, if there were any gentlemen given to that amusement who could appreciate the complicated probabilities of an arduous purpose, with all the possible thwartings and furtherings of circumstance, all the niceties of inward balance, by which a man swings and makes his point or else is carried headlong.”
—George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)
