Ambient Ionization - Direct Analysis in Real Time

Direct Analysis in Real Time

Direct analysis in real time (DART) is an atmospheric pressure ion source that operates by exposing the sample to a gas stream (typically helium or nitrogen) that contains long-lived electronically or excited neutral atoms, vibronically excited molecules (or "metastables"). Excited states are formed in a glow discharge in a chamber through which the gas flows.

Famous quotes containing the words direct, real and/or time:

A fact is a proposition of which the verification by an appeal to the primary sources of our knowledge or to experience is direct and simple. A theory, on the other hand, if true, has all the characteristics of a fact except that its verification is possible only by indirect, remote, and difficult means.
    Chauncey Wright (1830–1875)

The real antichrist is he who turns the wine of an original idea into the water of mediocrity.
    Eric Hoffer (1902–1983)

Put an amen to it. There’s no more time for praying. Amen.
    Frank S. Nugent (1908–1965)
