Habitat and Season
The mushroom lives in Europe. The fool's mushroom is known to grow in woodlands and hardwood forests.
As the fool's mushroom other name (spring destroying angel) suggests, this toxic amanita grows in spring.
Unlike various closely related poisonous amanitas, this mushroom is not known to occur in North America.

Famous quotes containing the words habitat and/or season:
“Neither moral relations nor the moral law can swing in vacuo. Their only habitat can be a mind which feels them; and no world composed of merely physical facts can possibly be a world to which ethical propositions apply.”
—William James (18421910)
“Much poetry seems to be aware of its situation in time and of its relation to the metronome, the clock, and the calendar. ... The season or month is there to be felt; the day is there to be seized. Poems beginning When are much more numerous than those beginning Where of If. As the meter is running, the recurrent message tapped out by the passing of measured time is mortality.”
—William Harmon (b. 1938)
