Famous quotes containing the words transparent and/or blue:

I mind how once we lay such a transparent summer morning,
How you settled your head athwart my hips and gently turn’d over
    upon me,
And parted the shirt from my bosom-bone, and plunged your tongue to my bare-stript heart,
And reach’d till you felt my beard, and reach’d till you held my
    feet.
    Walt Whitman (1819–1892)

There were ghosts that returned to earth to hear his phrases,
As he sat there reading, aloud, the great blue tabulae.
They were those from the wilderness of stars that had expected more.
There were those that returned to hear him read from the poem of life,
Of the pans above the stove, the pots on the table, the tulips among them.
They were those that would have wept to step barefoot into reality....
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)
