Amtrak, the national passenger rail system, provides service to Alliance. Amtrak Train 29, the westbound Capitol Limited, departs Alliance at 1:23 a.m. daily with service to Cleveland, Elyria, Sandusky, Toledo, Waterloo, Elkhart, South Bend, and Chicago. Amtrak Train 30, the eastbound Capitol Limited, departs Alliance at 1:45 a.m. daily with service to Pittsburgh, Connellsville, Cumberland, Martinsburg, Harpers Ferry, Rockville and Washington, DC.

Public transportation in Alliance is provided by the Stark Area Regional Transit Authority (SARTA) Amtrak's Capitol Limited is the only way, other than by car or SARTA, that one can travel there, as the city has neither commercial bus nor airline service. However, SARTA service in Alliance includes direct connections to downtown Canton's intercity bus station, served by regional intercity bus carrier Lakefront Lines, as well as a connection to the Canton-Akron Airport.
