Allan (song) - Reception and Live Performances

Reception and Live Performances

According to Star Music, "Allan" is a "sad" but "beautiful" song with "dance" sonorities. On the French SNEP Top 50 Singles Chart, the song was listed for eight weeks, from 13 January to 3 March 1990, peaking at number 32 in its fourth week. Its remixes were bigger successes in discothèques.

Farmer performed the song about two years before the single's release, in the French television show Fête comme chez vous, broadcast on Antenne 2 on 5 May 1988. The song, however, was not included on the best of Les Mots. "Allan" was only sung during the 1989 tour in an unchoreographied performance, in which Farmer wears black and white checked trousers and a grey jacket.

Famous quotes containing the words reception, live and/or performances:

Aesthetic emotion puts man in a state favorable to the reception of erotic emotion.... Art is the accomplice of love. Take love away and there is no longer art.
    Rémy De Gourmont (1858–1915)

We live in oppressive times. We have, as a nation, become our own thought police; but instead of calling the process by which we limit our expression of dissent and wonder “censorship,” we call it “concern for commercial viability.”
    David Mamet (b. 1947)

This play holds the season’s record [for early closing], thus far, with a run of four evening performances and one matinee. By an odd coincidence it ran just five performances too many.
    Dorothy Parker (1893–1967)
