All India Forward Bloc - Forward Bloc Today

Forward Bloc Today

AIFB struggles for socialism in India but they consider that their ideology differs from that of Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) and Communist Party of India (CPI), as they build their socialism on foreign ideologues as Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin, whereas the socialism of AIFB is the Indian socialism of Subhas Chandra Bose.

AIFB has branches throughout the country, but the main strength of the party is concentrated in West Bengal. It is part of the Left Front government in there, and Forward Bloc has various ministers in the state government. Notably though AIFB is cooperating with CPI(M) in West Bengal, Tripura and on the national level, AIFB is not part of the Left Democratic Front in Kerala.

The current general secretary of AIFB is Debabrata Biswas (politician). N. Velappan Nair is the chairman of the party, Dr. Amar Singh Kushwaha the deputy Chairman and Ashok Ghosh the financial secretary. Additional secretaries of the party are Subrata Bose (MP), Dr. Barun Mukherjee, G. Devarajan, Naren Dey, Hafiz Alam Sairani, Bir Singh Mahato, V.P. Saini, Shyamal Roy, G.R. Shivashankar.

Famous quotes containing the words bloc and/or today:

Unpleasant questions are being raised about Mother’s Day. Is this day necessary? . . . Isn’t it bad public policy? . . . No politician with half his senses, which a majority of politicians have, is likely to vote for its abolition, however. As a class, mothers are tender and loving, but as a voting bloc they would not hesitate for an instant to pull the seat out from under any Congressman who suggests that Mother is not entitled to a box of chocolates each year in the middle of May.
    Russell Baker (20th century)

In communist society, where nobody has one exclusive sphere of activity but each can become accomplished in any branch he wishes, society regulates the general production and thus makes it possible for me to do one thing today and another tomorrow, to hunt in the morning, fish in the afternoon, rear cattle in the evening, criticize after dinner, just as I have a mind, without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, shepherd or critic.
    Karl Marx (1818–1883)
