Other Musical Instruments

Makers of other string instruments sometimes use aliquot parts of the scale length to enhance the timbre. Famous quotes containing the words musical and/or instruments:

Syncopations are no indication of light or trashy music, and to shy bricks at “hateful ragtime” no longer passes for musical culture.
    Scott Joplin (1868–1917)

Being the dependents of the general government, and looking to its treasury as the source of all their emoluments, the state officers, under whatever names they might pass and by whatever forms their duties might be prescribed, would in effect be the mere stipendiaries and instruments of the central power.
    Andrew Jackson (1767–1845)
