Albinus Peter Graves - Early Life

Early Life

Br. Albinus Peter FSC was born on October 15, 1887 in Minneapolis, Minnesota as Arthur Jacob Graves. During his early years, he was educated in Catholic schools and while he has expressed his desire to serve as a De La Salle Brother, his father did not allow him to do so. When he was 20 years old, he ran away from home and went to the Novitiate House in Pocantico Hills, New York. By the time his father knew where he was he had already accepted his son's decision.

In 1907, he received the Holy Habit and was given the religious name, Albinus Peter.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or life:

[In early adolescence] she becomes acutely aware of herself as a being perceived by others, judged by others, though she herself is the harshest judge, quick to list her physical flaws, quick to undervalue and under-rate herself not only in terms of physical appearance but across a wide range of talents, capacities and even social status, whereas boys of the same age will cite their abilities, their talents and their social status pretty accurately.
    Terri Apter (20th century)

    Voyage through death
    to life upon these shores.
    Robert Earl Hayden (1913–1980)
