“God should not be called an individual substance, since the principal of individuation is matter.”
—Thomas Aquinas (c. 1225–1274)
“Rather than have it the principal thing in my son’s mind, I would gladly have him think that the sun went round the earth, and that the stars were so many spangles set in the bright blue firmament.”
—Thomas Arnold (1795–1842)
“I cannot believe that our factory system is the best mode by which men may get clothing. —Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
