Albany and Eastern Railroad

The Albany and Eastern Railroad (reporting mark AERC) was created when the BNSF Railway spun off its Sweet Home Branch Line in May 1998. In November 2000, the AERC was combined with the Willamette Valley Railway but maintained the AERC name. It operates about 49 miles (79 km) of track and is based in Lebanon, Oregon. The line runs from Albany to Mill City. At the Albany end of the line it connects to Union Pacific and BNSF lines.

Famous quotes containing the words eastern and/or railroad:

    And not by eastern windows only,
    When daylight comes, comes in the light;
    In front the sun climbs slow, how slowly!
    But westward, look, the land is bright!
    Arthur Hugh Clough (1819–1861)

    I was the conductor of the Underground Railroad for eight years, and I can say what most conductors can’t say—I never ran my train off the track and I never lost a passenger.
    Harriet Tubman (1821–1913)
