Alan King: Inside The Comedy Mind

Alan King: Inside the Comedy Mind is an interview program hosted and produced by comedian Alan King for the American cable channel Comedy Central. As opposed to a humorous talk show focused on entertainment value, King limited his interviewee pool to standup comics, and kept the focus of the interviews on the craft and art of creating standup comedy. Guests included George Carlin, Jerry Seinfeld, George Burns, Buddy Hackett, Dennis Miller, Mel Brooks and Joan Rivers.

The series is regularly shown in the United Kingdom on Information TV, and its sister channel Showcase 2.

Famous quotes containing the words alan, comedy and/or mind:

Power lasts ten years; influence not more than a hundred.
Korean proverb, quoted in Alan L. Mackay, The Harvest of a Quiet Eye (1977)

The difference between tragedy and comedy is the difference between experience and intuition. In the experience we strive against every condition of our animal life: against death, against the frustration of ambition, against the instability of human love. In the intuition we trust the arduous eccentricities we’re born to, and see the oddness of a creature who has never got acclimatized to being created.
    Christopher Fry (b. 1907)

As far as the arts and the sciences are concerned, the German mind appreciates most highly that which it does not understand of the latter, and that which it does not enjoy of the former.
    Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872)
