Famous quotes containing the word arts:

    Eliot dead, you saying,
    “And who is left to understand my jokes?
    My old Brother in the arts . . . and besides, he was a smash of
    poet.”
    Robert Lowell (1917–1977)

    So in peace our tasks we ply,
    Pangur Ban, my cat, and I;
    In our arts we find our bliss,
    I have mine and he has his.
    Unknown. Pangur Ban (l. 25–28)

    The arts are not just instantaneous pleasure—if you don’t like it, the artist is wrong. I belong to the generation which says if you don’t like it, you don’t understand and you ought to find out.
    John Drummond (b. 1934)
