History
Al Kharaitiyat is among the newest sports clubs in Qatar, having been formed in 1996 as Al-Hilal. Among the founders were:

Upon its formation it was entered into the Qatari 2nd Division. After winning the 2nd Division title in 2004, it earned a spot in the top tier. Shortly after, the club was renamed to what it is currently known as, Al Kharaitiyat, on 19 October 2004 by decision of the vice-president of the Qatar Olympic Committee in order to better represent the district it is located in.
