Aksara's Relevance in Hindu Philosophy
The Mandukya Upanishad partitions the symbol Aum in three different morae and adds a fourth mora-less part instructing that the mora-less part alone is ultimately real and not the other three representing "wakefulness", "dream" and the "sleep" states of consciousness. The mora-less part of Aum has correspondence with the fourth dimension of metaphysics, the Atman.

Famous quotes containing the words relevance and/or philosophy:
“... whatever men do or know or experience can make sense only to the extent that it can be spoken about. There may be truths beyond speech, and they may be of great relevance to man in the singular, that is, to man in so far as he is not a political being, whatever else he may be. Men in the plural, that is, men in so far as they live and move and act in this world, can experience meaningfulness only because they can talk with and make sense to each other and to themselves.”
—Hannah Arendt (19061975)
“My philosophy is that to be a director you cannot be subject to anyone, even the head of the studio. I threatened to quit each time I didnt get my way, but no one ever let me walk out.”
—Dorothy Arzner (19001979)
