Overview

Akron Community Foundation is composed of more than 425 funds representing individuals, families, organizations, corporations and issues. Notable funds include the Women’s Endowment Fund, Gay Community Endowment Fund, Millennium Fund for Children and the Vernon L. Odom Fund, which is named for the late leader of the Akron Urban League.

At the end of fiscal year 2013, the foundation awarded over 800 grants totaling $7.4 million and had assets of more than $150.2 million. In all, the foundation has awarded more than $100 million in grants since its inception.

John T. Petures Jr. heads the foundation’s 16-person staff, and Mike Sweeney leads the 24-person volunteer board.
