AK Steel Corporation is an American steel company whose predecessor, Armco, was founded in 1899 in Middletown, Ohio, United States. Today, the company's corporate headquarters is situated in West Chester, Ohio, (which is just north of Cincinnati) after having moved from Middletown in August 2007.

The company derives its name from the first letters of "Armco" and "Kawasaki Steel Corporation," which entered into a limited partnership with Armco in 1989. The company was formally renamed AK Steel in 1993 when it became a publicly traded company.

Famous quotes containing the words steel and/or holding:

Cold eyes ... steel grey, rather small, not unpleasant in good-humour, diabolic in a passion, but worst when a little suspicious; then they watch you as though you were a young rattle-snake, to be killed when convenient.
    Henry Brooks Adams (1838–1918)

I love a gay and sociable wisdom, and shun harshness and austerity in behaviour, holding every surly countenance suspect.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)
