Military Times Service Member of The Year

Each year Military Times honors an "Everyday Hero". Someone with whom you are proud to serve. Someone whose dedication, professionalism and concern for fellow service members and community set a standard for all of us. There is a Marine of the year, Soldier of the year, Sailor of the year, Airman of the year and Coast Guardsman of the year. Each service member is nominated by their peers for Military Times selection. The winners are honored at a formal ceremony on Capitol Hill, in Washington, D.C.

Famous quotes containing the words military, times, service, member and/or year:

There was somewhat military in his nature, not to be subdued, always manly and able, but rarely tender, as if he did not feel himself except in opposition. He wanted a fallacy to expose, a blunder to pillory, I may say required a little sense of victory, a roll of the drum, to call his powers into full exercise.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Here and there, human nature may be great in times of trial, but generally speaking it is its weakness and not its strength that appears in a sick chamber.
    Jane Austen (1775–1817)

Our chief want in life, is, someone who shall make us do what we can. This is the service of a friend. With him we are easily great.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

In song and dance man expresses himself as a member of a higher community: he has forgotten how to walk and speak and is on the way toward flying up into the air, dancing.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

Every third year you shall bring out the full tithe of your produce for that year, and store it within your towns; the Levites, because they have no allotment or inheritance with you, as well as the resident aliens, the orphans, and the widows in your towns, may come and eat their fill so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work that you undertake.
    Bible: Hebrew, Deuteronomy 14:28,29.
