Famous quotes containing the word history:
“To summarize the contentions of this paper then. Firstly, the phrase the meaning of a word is a spurious phrase. —J.L. (John Langshaw)
“It gives me the greatest pleasure to say, as I do from the bottom of my heart, that never in the history of the country, in any crisis and under any conditions, have our Jewish fellow citizens failed to live up to the highest standards of citizenship and patriotism.”
—William Howard Taft (18571930)
“As I am, so shall I associate, and so shall I act; Caesars history will paint out Caesar.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
