Agreement On The Conservation of Populations of European Bats - Aim of The Agreement

Aim of The Agreement

The overall goal of the Agreement is to provide a framework for bat conservation for the member states and those that have not yet joined. According to the Agreement Text, member states prohibit the deliberate capture, keeping or killing of bats except for research purposes for which a special permit is required. Furthermore the member states identify important sites for bat conservation, survey the status and trends of bat populations and study their migratory patterns. Based on the result of these monitoring activities the Agreement develops and reviews recommendations and guidelines that shall be implemented by the Parties on national levels.

Famous quotes containing the words aim of, aim and/or agreement:

Whenever a human being, through the commission of a crime, has become exiled from good, he needs to be reintegrated with it through suffering. The suffering should be inflicted with the aim of bringing the soul to recognize freely some day that its infliction was just.
    Simone Weil (1909–1943)

    Therefore doth heaven divide
The state of man in divers functions,
    Setting endeavor in continual motion,
To which is fixed, as an aim or butt,
Obedience; for so work the honeybees,
Creatures that by a rule in nature teach
The act of order to a peopled kingdom.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

No one can doubt, that the convention for the distinction of property, and for the stability of possession, is of all circumstances the most necessary to the establishment of human society, and that after the agreement for the fixing and observing of this rule, there remains little or nothing to be done towards settling a perfect harmony and concord.
    David Hume (1711–1776)
