Agreement On Sub-Regional Arms Control

Agreement on Sub-Regional Arms Control is an agreement signed on June 14, 1996 in Florence, Italy, that limits the number of tanks, armored combat vehicles (ACVs), artillery, combat aircraft and attack helicopters that the parties to the agreement can possess. As part of the agreement, the parties of FR Yugoslavia (now succeeded by Serbia and Montenegro), the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina (the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republica Srpska) and Croatia annually exchange information on and allow inspections of their military holdings. It was signed under the supervision of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.

Famous quotes containing the words agreement, arms and/or control:

No one can doubt, that the convention for the distinction of property, and for the stability of possession, is of all circumstances the most necessary to the establishment of human society, and that after the agreement for the fixing and observing of this rule, there remains little or nothing to be done towards settling a perfect harmony and concord.
    David Hume (1711–1776)

All over this land women have no political existence. Laws pass over our heads that we can not unmake. Our property is taken from us without our consent. The babes we bear in anguish and carry in our arms are not ours.
    Lucy Stone (1818–1893)

When a book, any sort of book, reaches a certain intensity of artistic performance it becomes literature. That intensity may be a matter of style, situation, character, emotional tone, or idea, or half a dozen other things. It may also be a perfection of control over the movement of a story similar to the control a great pitcher has over the ball.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)
