Mission
The mission of the Panel is to ensure that African issues remain at the center of global development discussions, and that the requisite level of support and action is generated at all levels of development. The Panel sees its role as an advocacy group for Africa with the power to facilitate coalition-building at the highest levels, break bottlenecks and convene decision-makers to affect change.
The Panel's key development objectives include:
- Promote Africa's development by tracking progress, drawing attention to opportunities and catalysing action;
- Engage on issues such as global governance, peace and security, climate change, food security, private sector development; finance for development, and MDG achievement;
- Inspire honest debate amongst leaders in the public and private sectors and underscore the shared responsibility for sustainable progress between African leaders and their international partners;
- Amplify Africa's voice and promote the centrality of African issues at the G20, G8, EU and other global and regional fora.

Famous quotes containing the word mission:
“I cannot be a materialistbut Oh, how is it possible that a God who speaks to all hearts can let Belgravia go laughing to a vicious luxury, and Whitechapel cursing to a filthy debaucherysuch suffering, such dreadful sufferingand shall the short years of Christs mission atone for it all?”
—D.H. (David Herbert)
“Not in vain is Ireland pouring itself all over the earth. Divine Providence has a mission for her children to fulfill; though a mission unrecognized by political economists. There is ever a moral balance preserved in the universe, like the vibrations of the pendulum. The Irish, with their glowing hearts and reverent credulity, are needed in this cold age of intellect and skepticism.”
—Lydia M. Child (18021880)
“The mission of men there seems to be, like so many busy demons, to drive the forest all out of the country, from every solitary beaver swamp and mountain-side, as soon as possible.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
