Other Uses

Although the ADFGVX is moot technologically and cryptographically, the cipher system can be used as a predecessor for a mechanical cipher machine or a cipher implemented in software. ADFGVX can still remain useful if different substitution tableaus and column substitution tables are chosen at the same time the mechanical cipher keys are changed.
