The Last Time
Ádám died in 1827 in Boulogne-sur-Mer at the age of 50 when Franz was just 15 years old. They were staying at a retreat centre for Franz to rest efter a physician's ordination, but instead the father became fatally ill in typhoid fever, and was buried there. Famous quotes containing the words the last and/or time:
“I wonder whether mankind could not get along without all these names, which keep increasing every day, and hour, and moment; till at the last the very air will be full of them; and even in a great plain, men will be breathing each others breath, owing to the vast multitude of words they use, that consume all the air, just as lamp-burners do gas.”
—Herman Melville (18191891)
“The time of the seasons and the constellations
The time of milking and the time of harvest
The time of the coupling of man and woman
And that of beasts. Feet rising and falling.
Eating and drinking. Dung and death.”
—T.S. (Thomas Stearns)
