Achakzais of Afghanistan are mainly located in Spin Boldak, Reg, Kandahar, Helmand, Oruzgan and Herat. Achakzais on the other side of Durrand Line, in Pakistan, live in Chaman, Pishin, Gulistan Karaiz, Qilla Abdullah, Quetta and other northern districts of Balochistan. Spin Boldak, Gulistan and Chaman are considered to be the center of Achakzais.(One branch of Achakzai tribe which is Hamidzai/Ibrahimzai is living in Village Khanqah Musa Zai Sharif Tehsil Daraban Kalan District D.I.Khan (KPK) who migrated to this land from Qandhar Afghanistan approximately 290 years ago...All the Sufi/Peeran of Khanqah Musa Zai sharif belong to this sub branch i.e. 'Hamidzai/Ibrahimzai of Achakzai tribe. Hazrat Khawaja Usman Damani Naqshbandi Mujadidi RA was the Grandfather and head of all Sufis of Khanqah Musa Zai Sharif... Hazrat Usman Damani RA is the son of Hazrat Molana Musa Jan RA and his father belongs to the achakzai tribe. and his mother belongs to the family of 'Hazrat Khwaja Bandanawaz Sayyid Muhammad Gesudaraz Rahimahullah Gulberqa (INDIA)'. His Family background was very strong and respectable from his father as well as mother. Hazrat Usman Damani RA is considered among one of the Famous Sufi of Naqshbandia Mujadidia Silsala of the world.. His preachings about Islam are very popular & effective all over the world...In 1898 after the death of Hazrat Khawaja Usman Damani Naqshbandi RA, his son Hazrat Khawaja Siraj-ud-Din Damani Naqshbandi Mujadidi RA had become the head of this Khanqah in a very early age of 17 year and He died in the age 36 years. After the death of Khawaj Siraj-ud-Din Damani Naqshbandi Mujadidi RA in 1915, His son Hazrat Khawaja Hafiz Muhammad Ibraheem Qalandar Sirjai Naqshbandi Mujadidi RA had became the head of Khanqah Musa Zai Sharif District D.I.Khan. In 1957, Hazrat Hafiz Khawaja Muhammad Ibraheem Qalandar Siraji Naqshbandi Mujadid died, then his son Hazrat Allama Khawaja Muhammad Ismail Siraji Naqshbandi Mujadid RA became the head of Khanqah Musa Zai Sharif District D.I.Khan and nearly for 50 years he served this Khanqah Musa Zai Sharif District D.I.Khan for the great cause of Islam according to the preachings of Hazrat Dost Muhammad Qandhari RA. Hazrat Allama Ismail Sirjai Naqshbandi Naqshbandi RA died in 26 June 1993. After all, now Hazrat Khawaja Muhammad Noman Siraji Naqshbandi Mujadidi is serving this Khanqah Musa Zai Sharif as a Head of Khanqah Musa Zai Sharif and his three brothers Hazrat Khawaja Muhammad SAAD Siraji Murshed Baba, Hazrat Mufti Hafiz Muhammad Saeed Siraji & Late Hazrat Muhammad Yousaf Jan served/serving this Khanqah according to the Preachings of their Master Hazrat Khawaja Dost Muhammad Qandari RA.
According to Hyat Khan's history of Afghanistan, there are two main divisions descending from their progenitor Bor Tareen: the Zirak and the Panjpai. The term Abdal, however, gradually superseded Bor Tareen and came into special prominence when Ahmad Shah Abdali, commonly known as Durrani, began his career of conquest. The Achakzais are strictly a branch of the Barakzai but Ahmad Shah Durrani, himself an Abdal Tareen, fearing the growing numbers of the Barakzai, separated them from the parent stock, since which time they have remained distinct. It is interesting to note that there are a few families of achakzais in Jammu and Kashmir who were displaced due to business and trade from Afghanistan into Kashmir around a century ago.
