Access Computer was the common name for the Access Matrix a luggable computer introduced in 1982 by a United States computer company 'Access Matrix Corp' (AM CORP on FCC documentation). Famous quotes containing the words access and/or computer:
“Power, in Cases world, meant corporate power. The zaibatsus, the multinationals ..., had ... attained a kind of immortality. You couldnt kill a zaibatsu by assassinating a dozen key executives; there were others waiting to step up the ladder; assume the vacated position, access the vast banks of corporate memory.”
—William Gibson (b. 1948)
“What, then, is the basic difference between todays computer and an intelligent being? It is that the computer can be made to see but not to perceive. What matters here is not that the computer is without consciousness but that thus far it is incapable of the spontaneous grasp of patterna capacity essential to perception and intelligence.”
—Rudolf Arnheim (b. 1904)
