Abortion in Poland - Public Opinion

Public Opinion

Currently, Polish society is one of the most pro-life countries in Europe. In the poll European values in May 2005, 48% of Poles disagreed that a woman should be able to have an abortion if she wants no children. 47% were in favour of abortion. Out of the 10 polled countries, Poland was the only country where opposition to abortion was greater than support for abortion. However, the rate of opposition to abortion was not much higher than in other countries (42% in Portugal, 41% in Italy). However, Poland has become increasingly anti-abortion, with 76% of Poles aged 15–24 favoring a total ban on abortion.

Famous quotes containing the words public and/or opinion:

George Shears ... was hanged in a barn near the store. The rope was thrown over a beam, and he was asked to walk up a ladder to save the trouble of preparing a drop for him. “Gentlemen,” he said, “I am not used to this business. Shall I jump off or slide off?” He was told to jump.
—For the State of Montana, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

The little I know of it has not served to raise my opinion of what is vulgarly called the “Monied Interest;” I mean, that blood-sucker, that muckworm, that calls itself “the friend of government.”
    William, Earl Of Pitt (1708–1778)
