Umar Wirahadikusumah served as Nasution's adjutant from 1946–1947.
The former residence of Nasution at Jl Teuku Umar No 40, Menteng, in central Jakarta has been converted into a simple but interesting museum (open every day, excepting Mondays, from 8.00 am to 2.00pm). The museum, especially, illustrates the attempt to kidnap Nasution in the early hours of 1 October 1965.
