Aag (2007 Film) - Reception

Reception

Aag had an extremely poor opening at the box office worldwide, and only collected Rs.8,05,000 throughout its opening weekend. It created a full gross of Rs.11,25,00,000 and was rated as a "disaster". Aag was noticed to be the biggest high-budget Bollywood flop of the past years from 2007. It also marked its name on the "100 worst films ever created" chart on the Internet Movie Database. The film also earned negative reviews from most critics. It was criticized as the "worst remake Bollywood has ever seen". The negativity was created by the slow and predictable storyline of the film, and how similar to Sholay it was. Even actor Aamir Khan once joked that he will not work once again with director Ram Gopal Varma after having worked with him in Rangeela due to Aag being so horrible.

Famous quotes containing the word reception:

To aim to convert a man by miracles is a profanation of the soul. A true conversion, a true Christ, is now, as always, to be made by the reception of beautiful sentiments.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

To the United States the Third World often takes the form of a black woman who has been made pregnant in a moment of passion and who shows up one day in the reception room on the forty-ninth floor threatening to make a scene. The lawyers pay the woman off; sometimes uniformed guards accompany her to the elevators.
    Lewis H. Lapham (b. 1935)

I gave a speech in Omaha. After the speech I went to a reception elsewhere in town. A sweet old lady came up to me, put her gloved hand in mine, and said, “I hear you spoke here tonight.” “Oh, it was nothing,” I replied modestly. “Yes,” the little old lady nodded, “that’s what I heard.”
    Gerald R. Ford (b. 1913)
