A. V. S. Reddy

Dr. Akepati Vijaya Sagar Reddy,(Telugu: అకేపాటి విజయ సాగర్ రెడ్డి ; 27 December 1945 – 4 June 2012) was an Indian bureaucrat, who earned kudos for his rescue and relief work during the 1977 Diviseema cyclone. He belongs to the 1968 Batch of Indian Administrative Service (Andhra Pradesh Cadre) He served as the State Election Commissioner for Andhra Pradesh, the Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs. He was an expert in Rural Development and was earlier the Director General of National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), Hyderabad. He was instrumental in establishing the Rural Technology Park in the NIRD campus. He also introduced the M.Tech. programme in Rural Development in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. Reddy also served in the Army as Major in 1971.
