Delaware Senate Bill 80
In 2005 Senate Bill 80 was passed in the Delaware Senate regarding human embryonic stem cell research. Proponents claimed the bill would provide oversight for an otherwise unregulated field while opponents claimed the bill gave safe harbor to scientists who wanted to destroy and clone embryos for research. ARAAP emerged out of the efforts to oppose the legislation, organizing lobbying efforts throughout the state. The group was noted for its tactic of delivering roses to legislators, each tagged with the name of a constituent opposed to the bill, as an indication of the public opposition to the proposed legislation. ARAAP was also involved with defeating a similar bill, Senate Bill 5, in 2007.
